Wall clocks are a style of clocks that are designed to hang on a wall as opposed to sitting on a table, shelf, or mantel. Generally these clocks are lighter, so they will not pull loose from the wall anchors that hold them into the wall. These clocks usually sport classic faces displaying the hours of the day, although once in awhile you could find one that also had a calendar. The antique versions of these clocks were extremely popular back in the 1800s and 1900s, mostly because these clocks were much more affordable than the alternatives. Also, they took up so little room compared to other clocks, they were considered space efficient. Collectors love these clocks because they differ so much, yet are so similar in the way the movements are built. Also, different clock makers built them in different ways, and it is interesting to note the different builders' take on the classic design.
