Vienna Regulator clocks were the most popular back in the 19th century, which was the time most of them were made. Most of these very delicately machines featured classic design and proportional style. They also featured beautiful mahogany cases which were truly breathtaking. Some of them were made with rosewood cases. This wood was lighter, but it was still very beautiful. The regulators used weights and a pendulum to regulate time, and generally these were both displayed right out in front of the clock through a glass door. Most of these clocks simply featured a clock face with the hours of the day on it, although some provided a monthly calendar as well. These were very expensive, as it took a lot more work to add a calendar to a clock back in the late 1800s. Collectors today collect these clocks for their amazing beauty.
