Skeleton clocks are very interesting because they generally have no case. So, the inner workings of the clocks are completely uncovered, so, in a sense, you can see the "skeleton" of the clock. Skeleton clocks were considered stylish, different, and interesting back in the time of what we now call antique clocks. These clocks, with the original label, are highly prized collectors items and are a lot of fun to own and collect. Generally these clocks were made from brass or from some other metal, but a very few of them had wooden workings on the inside. For serious collectors, skeleton clocks could be a hobby all in their own, owing to the sheer variety that you get when you only have the inner workings of a clock to look at. Clocks look quite different with no case, which is part of the fun of owning and collecting skeleton clocks.
