The Sessions clock company really started life as the E.N. Welch clock making firm. This business was struggling and the Sessions family, who owned the foundry hired to make the castings for Welch, bought key stock in the company and ended up in control of it. They changed the name to sessions in 1903, and under William Session's management, the company became pretty successful in all areas of clockwork, even branching off into the electrical clock making that was becoming popular at that time.
The company ran strong until 1956. In this year, the firm was absorbed by another company that wanted the firm primarily for its timing devices. The new owners ran the firm until 1969, which was when it was forced to liquidate. And so the famous Sessions Clock company, the successor of the Welch clock company, was no more.
