The Lux Clock Manufacturing Company was founded in 1914 in a town called Waterbury, Connecticut. The founder's name was Paul Lux. He, his wife Caroline, and their sons Fred and Herman, were the family that started the Lux Company. At first, the company produced only clock movements, but as the business grew, so did the boundaries of the business. Everything that the company had got destroyed by fire in the years that followed, but it was rebuilt.
The company made clocks until World War 2, at which time they started making war related products. Clock production continued after the war, however. The company was bought out, and to this day kitchen timers are being built with the Lux name, although it is not the original company. Lux clocks are very sought after by collectors for their fine quality and historic value. Lux produced many different kinds of clocks.
