The E.Ingraham & company antique clock company was located in Bristol, Connecticut. It was formed in 1960. This was not the first company that Ingraham had been involved in, but definitely became the most popular venture of the clockmaker. The company produced clock movements and cases, some of which the company is famous for to this very day. For example, they received 17 patents between the years of 1857 and 1873, which shows a remarkable amount of creativity.
Elias Ingraham's son Edward succeeded his father to run the company in 1885. Edward also received an important patent during his career, for a method he developed of applying back enamel paint to wooden clock cases. This was a cheaper method of producing French marble mantel clocks, and was a great success.
The company lasted until around World War 2, after which no more pendulum clocks were built. The company then started producing fuses instead, and the Ingraham clock company was no more.
