Sometimes clocks were not solely produced alone. Sometimes, these clocks were produced with other non time keeping pieces that were included in a set with the clock. Clock garnitures, and garniture-clock sets, are examples of this practice. Many clocks, especially very decorative or fine clocks, came with matching garnitures that complemented the clock itself. Generally, these garners were candlesticks that set on each side of the clock. They often had the same trim, the same colors, the same kind of decorations, and the same theme. Also, these clock garnitures ranged from one to around up to ten candlesticks big, meaning that some could hold many candles. These were especially popular in olden times when candles were used as a source of primary lighting indoors, as they were not only beautiful to look at but they also served a purpose as well. These are great to collect, although it can be hard to find garnitures and their matching clocks together sometimes.
