China and/or porcelain clocks are clocks that are either built mostly of, or built partially of, china or porcelain. Many clock companies used porcelain for a number of different reasons. For one, porcelain is relatively cheap to produce. Also, porcelain is considered very decorative, and so clocks made of china or porcelain usually look very nice and are extremely unique. China clocks can come in all different shapes, sizes, varieties, colors, and tastes. Antique china and porcelain clocks are sought after by collectors because they are so unique, and are often very popular among both collectors and clock lovers alike. While wood was one of the most popular casing materials for most clocks, steal, iron, china, and porcelain were also used. Porcelain was not as sturdy as wood or metal, which is one reason why perhaps wood was more popular for clock cases than china was.
