The Chelsea Clock Company was pretty much started back in 1897. That year, Charles H. Pearson bought out a clock company known as the Boston Clock company, and renamed it the Chelsea Clock Company. Chelsea's first popular time piece was a clock called the Ship's Bell clock. This clock was not only popular at sea, but in people's homes as well.
