Blinking Eye Clocks

Blinking eye clocks were clocks that were popular after they were patented back in 1857. They were patented by a man named Pietro Cinquini. He assigned the patents to Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturing Company. These companies began producing the unique clocks immediately, and they were a great success. These companies generally bought the movements for the clocks, which came in several incredible designs. Some were of people, featuring a clock either in their stomach, or in something they were holding or standing behind. As the clock ticks, the eyes move back and forth (or sometimes move in some other way). They are really a delightful collectors' item, and many people enjoy owning these valuable pieces of clock history. Most of the most famous renditions of this clock style come from before 1900, so it can be difficult to find them sometimes still in working order.
