Atmos Clocks were clocks that were manufactured by a company called Jaeger-LeCoultre in Switzerland. These clocks never need to be wound, and gain their energy from small temperature changes. These clocks are unique in the way that they never need to be touched or wound in any way, and they will continue to keep time. This is accomplished via a hermetically sealed capsule containing a mixture of gas and liquid ethyl chloride. This expands and contracts, causing the small spring inside to constantly wind the main spring, so it internally winds when the temperature changes. It only takes a variation in temperature of one degree in the range between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius to wind the clock enough to last two whole days! All of the parts in the clock are made as frictionless as possible, and it utilizes a torsion pendulum, which uses less energy than a normal pendulum.
