The Ansonia Clock Company was founded in Ansonia, Connecticut. This region was the home to many famous clock companies, including Ansonia. The Ansonia Clock Company was actually a branch off of a brass company. The company believed that they would use more of their own brass if they built and sold clocks, and this is precisely what they did. They were well known for their aggressive sales tactics, and for their sturdy business sense.
At one point, the company suffered a serious fire, but they rebounded well, and were back to full production in not too much time. The plant continued to build clocks until around 1930 when it shut down. Then, Russian interests purchased their machinery, and it was shipped overseas to the new Russian clock manufacturing revolution that took place there. The Ansonia Clock company lost most of its records in the fire, which keeps us from learning more about it.
